The following information is from Duke Energy:
There is a major high water event underway in the Catawba-Wateree River Basin.
Lake Wylie is at 99.3 and rising over 0.2 ft./hr. The South Fork Catawba River is flooding. Downstream tributaries such as Sugar Creek and Rocky Creek are rising. Around 2 PM today we will open a gate at Wylie which will result in additional gate openings at Fishing Creek and Cedar Creek around 5 PM this evening. Currently Lake Wateree is at 100.8.
After the gate change at Cedar Creek, the lake level will rise significantly overnight but is not expected to exceed 103.5.
This projected lake level is subject to change with the continuing rainfall in the area.
We will provide additional updates if conditions change. Updated lake levels are available any time at http://www.duke-energy.com/lakes or by calling 800-829-5253.
