High Water Event — UPDATE 4:30
April 24, 2017 (Updated at 4:30 pm) Current level 98.2
The Catawba River Basin continues to experience high runoff due to the significant rainfall received over the past two days. Upstream tributaries are overflowing, and with additional rain forecasted through Tuesday, Lake Wateree is expected to begin spilling tomorrow, April 25. Spilling will continue for several days as water moves through the river system; however, we do not anticipate Lake Wateree to exceed 102.5.
As always, we encourage those living along lakes, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone areas to pay special attention to changing weather conditions and take any necessary precautions. We will provide additional updates if conditions change.
