The following information is an updated message from Duke Energy:
The Lower Catawba River Basin is experiencing significant runoff from the recent rainfall and showers are in the forecast for later today. With significant inflows to Fishing Creek upstream, we will partially open a gate there this afternoon.
Currently, we have a gate partially opened at Cedar Creek which will be opened further this afternoon.
Lake Wateree is expected to spill later this evening, and based on current conditions, we do not expect it to exceed 101.5 feet. We are currently running five units at Wateree.
We are closely monitoring inflows and will provide an update as needed.
Please stay alert to changing conditions, as additional rainfall could lead to higher lake levels.
Updated lake levels are available any time at http://www.duke-energy.com/lakes/levels.asp and by calling 800-829-5253.
For your convenience, online lake level information is now smart phone-friendly. We will provide additional updates if conditions change.
