Catawba River Basin Experiencing High Runoff
The following is a message from Duke Energy:
January 23, 2017
Due to the rainfall over the weekend, the Catawba River Basin is experiencing high runoff.
This will result in a gate opening at both Fishing Creek and Cedar Creek later this afternoon. Lake Wateree is at 98.2 and stable. This evening we anticipate Lake Wateree will begin to rise, but it is not expected to go above 100.
We will continue to monitor the situation and provide any updates if conditions change. As always, we encourage those living along lakes, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone areas to pay special attention to changing weather conditions and take any necessary precautions.
We will provide additional updates if conditions change. Updated lake levels are available any time at http://www.duke-energy.com/lakes and by calling 800-829-5253.
