The National Weather Service is forecasting rainfall for the Catawba River Basin particularly from Charlotte south. Lake Wateree is at 96.9 and we are continuing to make adjustments as necessary to accommodate anticipated rainfall.
At this time we do not believe that Lake Wateree will spill (100.0); however, it is dependent on how much rainfall the region actually receives (and where it falls).
We will provide additional updates if conditions change. As always, we encourage those living along lakes, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone areas to pay special attention to changing weather conditions and take any necessary precautions.
Updated lake levels are available any time at http://www.duke-energy.com/lakes and by calling 800-829-5253.
